

Established in 1970, Consumers Union of Korea (CUK) is the oldest consumer organisation in Korea and has 8 regional offices. CUK’s main activities are: handling consumer complaints (it handled 73,351 complaints in 2006), comparative testing, consumer education and health campaigning.
CUK has also created a E-commerce Centre in 2004 where consumers can get advice about problems relating to E-commerce.
CUK’s major areas of activity for 2006/2007 are:
- Food safety.
- GM food (monitoring the adverse health effects of GM food).
- campaign against tobacco consumption focussed on women.
- Consumer safety in E-commerce.
