JOHOR BARU: Some 41 businesses in Johor received the Consumer’s Choice Awards from the National Consumer Action Council (MTPN) for providing excellent service to Johoreans.

“We hope this recognition will inspire others to strive in providing excellent service to their customers, ” he said during the awards ceremony held at a restaurant here.

The award was given by the MTPN to companies based on reviews from customers as well as the eight consumers rights frame work that is applied globally.

The eight consumer rights are the rights to basic needs, safety, information, choice, representation, redress, consumer education, and the right to a healthy environment.

MTPN president Dato Kevy Yeo said the organisation is firm in its stance to provide a fair ecosystem for consumers.

“There are a total of 172 registered companies with only 41 of them qualifying for the award tonight.

“With this, I hope consumers will have confidence in the way we gauge these businesses

Also present to launch the event was Tebrau MP Steven Choong who said that such events will foster a consumer base that is aware of their rights.

“As we celebrate those who received the awards, we are not only highlighting good and ethical businesses, but MTPN as an authority on the matter.
