– Bukit Sentosa Police Training Centre, Rawang, Selangor

This training centre known as the Bukit Sentosa Pulapol is seeing a Covid-19 outbreak among police officers and trainees.

The Health Ministry yesterday announced the emergence of a new cluster called Jalan Bukit Sentosa Cluster, which has so far recorded 14 positive cases from a total of 85 people screened.

Bukit Aman Management Department director Ramli Din when contacted confirmed the incident. He said they were working closely with health officials to address the spread of Covid-19.

It is one of three police training centres with an outbreak in the past two weeks.

– Segamat Police Training Centre, Segamat, Johor

Malaysiakini received confirmation that this facility known as Segamat Pulapol is the training centre where a Covid-19 cluster was detected in late January.

The Jalan By Pass Cluster, which its index case was found positive on Jan 27, has recorded a total of 189 positive cases as of yesterday.

– Muara Tuang Army Camp, Kuching, Sarawak

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee released a list of locations affected by Covid-19 yesterday, which said that a Covid-19 positive individual was at this military camp, with an exposure period between Feb 1 and Feb 5.

A customer who visited this traditional market on Feb 6 between 10.06am and 10.30pm has been tested positive for Covid-19.

This is according to a list of locations affected by Covid-19 released by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee yesterday.

– Seberkas Night Market, Miri, Sarawak

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee found that this night market was exposed to a Covid-19 positive individual on Feb 4 between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

In its list released yesterday, the committee classified the case in the workplace category.

This longhouse in Nanga Lijan has been identified as the location where a new Covid-19 infection cluster called the Nanga Lijan Cluster was detected.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, the index case of the cluster was found positive on Feb 1.

The longhouse is placed under the enhanced movement control order for 14 days from Feb 8 until Feb 21.

The government today announced that three villages in Mukim Pasir Akar in Besut would be placed under an enhanced movement control order from Feb 14 until Feb 27.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said the decision was made after the Health Ministry found 21 Covid-19 positive cases at the localities from a total of 570 individuals screened so far.


DETENTION FACILITIES

– Perlis Correctional Centre, Arau, Perlis

According to the Perlis Health Department, four Covid-19 positive cases were recorded in the state yesterday, three of which involved inmates at this prison facility.

– Sri Lalang police station lock-up, Kluang, Johor

According to a list of locations affected by Covid-19 released by the Kluang Health Department yesterday, a positive Covid-19 case was detected during a targeted screening conducted at this detention facility.

– Simpang Renggam Prison, Simpang Renggam, Johor

According to a list of locations affected by Covid-19 released by the Kluang Health Department yesterday, two inmates at this prison were found positive during a contact tracing screening activity for the Tembok Renggam Cluster.

– Batu Gajah Correctional Centre, Kinta, Perak

The government today announced that this prison facility and living quarters for prison officers would be placed under an enhanced movement control order from Feb 14 until Feb 27.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a statement today said the decision was made after the Health Ministry found 29 positive cases at the prison.

Covid-19 (Feb 12): More recoveries than new cases, 17 deaths

The Health Ministry recorded 3,318 new cases of Covid-19 today and 17 deaths.

The number of patients discharged (3,505) was higher than the new cases, resulting in 204 fewer active cases.

  • Active cases: 51,579
  • Patients in ICU:  258
  • Intubated:  119

Like yesterday, a majority of new cases in Kedah (72 percent) and Johor (51 percent) are from new clusters.

Deaths

The nationwide death toll is now 953.

Of the 17 deaths today, eight were from the Klang Valley.

Selangor had six deaths and Kuala Lumpur two, followed by Sabah (2) Sarawak (2), Perak (1), Johor (1), Malacca (1) Pahang (1), and Kelantan (1).

One of the deceased is a foreigner.

Clusters

There were 14 new clusters today, bringing the total number of active clusters to 484.

The Tanjung Suria cluster, first detected last December, recorded 258 new cases bringing its total to 2,052 cases.

The Jalan Seelong cluster in Johor had 326 new cases while Kedah’s Selambau cluster had 136 new cases.
