Beginning Oct 9, the Health Ministry will only publish today’s breakdown of new cases by states after midnight on its CovidNow portal.

COVID-19 | The Health Ministry’s Github data repository reported a total of 88 Covid-19 fatalities yesterday (Oct 14), bringing the cumulative death toll to 27,681.
Malaysia is the worst-performing country in Asia in the number of Covid-19 deaths per capita.
The highest death was reported in Sarawak (19) followed by Johor (15), Sabah (15), Perak (8), Selangor (7), Kelantan (6), Penang (5), Kedah (4), Kuala Lumpur (4), Terengganu (2), Malacca (1), Pahang (1) and Putrajaya (1).
No new deaths were reported in Negeri Sembilan, Perlis and Labuan.
According to the Health Ministry’s CovidNow website, over the past two weeks, Perlis has the highest death per one million people followed by Penang and Sarawak.
From the newly reported deaths yesterday, 22 died before they could receive treatment at a hospital or were “brought in dead (BID)” based on Health Ministry terminology.
A total of 82 out of the 88 reported deaths or 93.2 percent happened in the last seven days.
The remaining deaths happened more than a week ago but were only recorded yesterday due to delays in data reporting.
An average of 203 Covid-19 deaths were reported daily in the last 30 days compared to a past seven-day average of 81, indicating a downtrend.
To date, 1,473 Covid-19 deaths have been reported this month.
As of yesterday, there were 101,587 active Covid-19 cases. This is a reduction of 21.3 percent from the 129,050 active infections a week ago.
Compared to 30 days ago, the number of active cases has fallen by 54.9 percent from 225,278.
Previously, the Health Ministry released deaths statistics together with the number of new Covid-19 cases in the evening. This had since changed.
Deaths statistics are now released after midnight along with other more detailed data. Malaysiakini reports them in the morning.
