The Ministry of Industry and Commerce is the government ministry responsible for governing and developing industrial activity and commercial activity in Laos. It is responsible for regulating and promoting manufacturing, trade, import and export activity, and for representing Laos and Laotian interests in the international business community.
CONSUMER PROTECTION IN LAOS
Consumer protection in Lao People’s Democratic Republic is the new issue. Consumer protection law has passed Lao assembly on 30 June 2010. Consumer protection law focuses on 4 ministries such as:
- Ministry of industry and commerce which is responsible for goods and services processing and markets.
- Ministry of health is responsible for food and drugs.
- Ministry of agriculture and forest is responsible for plants and animals.
- Ministry of science and technology is responsible for intellectual property.
