Consumer and Public Interest Unit (BSI), United Kingdom

BSI Group operates worldwide. The British Standards Institution is recognized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UK Government as the United Kingdom’s National Standards Body (NSB), which develops British Standards and related services, and is the gateway to CEN and CENELEC, in Europe, and ISO and IEC. Standards are developed through a consensus-based process, involving consumers, industry, government and others; this includes an open consultation phase.

The BSI Consumer & Public Involvement Network includes consumer organizations, individual members of the public, trained as CPI Representatives, and the Disabled Expert Reference Group (DERG) whose members have first-hand knowledge and experience of disability issues.

CPI reps are allocated by the BSI Consumer & Public Interest Unit (CPIU) to standards development committees in the CPIN priority areas of inclusivity, wellbeing, security, privacy and identity, sustainability and services standardization.
